- Well, re: the info request on these. The previous post from jspusa,
- >Its has unparalleled transfer rates
- >of upto 3.5 MB/s (Zorro-II limit). Its fixes a few bugs,
-
- is so much hype as far as I'm concerned. I have a Combo 040 which had had
- few problems, only some interrupts of HD access when doing high speed
- downloads. So, OK, I usually d/l to Ram:. Anyway, I put the GURUROM in
- and got..... not much at all!
-
- My transfer rates actually went _down_ slightly (1.9 MB/s to 1.8). The
- interrupt problem may be lessened. Things did work fine for a couple of
- months, though I recently had some sector checksum erroring that I am
- trying to track down (may be a bad SCSI cable). GVP's orignal docs
- were somewhat vague on whether you had to terminate the internal chain,
- though I was using the setup just fine with my Quantum P1800s on the card,
- an internal Syquest, and one or more devices (DAT backup and CDROM) on the
- on the external bus with no problem for some time previous to my problems.
-
- Anyway, AFAIK it's not any great shakes. My Mac-brother has used this
- drive on his Mac and gotten transfer rates of around 3 MB/s, so it's not
- a drive limitation. The GuruROM manual is also rather unclear about
- what you will have to do to get tech support - something about having
- every possible answer in hand before bothering their eminences.... :-/
